Session Infomation

Singular optics is regarded as an important branch of modern physical optics that encompasses studies of structured light with singularties, such as phase singularities in scalar optical fields and polarization singularities in vector optical field. The unique properties of singular light beams has enabled applications in many fields ranging from optical manipulation to quantum information processing. This session focuses on the fundamentals and applications of singular optics. Example topics include but not limited to: optical vortices carrying orbital angular momentum, vector light beams, spatio-temporal light field, optical lattices, and customized complex optical field; fundamentals, properties, generation, propagation and detection of singular light beams; wide applications of singular optics, such as optical manipulation, optical trapping, optical tweezers, sensing, metrology, imaging, microscopy, nonlinear optics, quantum science, optical communications, etc.
